Union-Made Work Uniforms

17,000 Cintas workers are organizing across the U.S. and Canada... Visit www.UniformJustice.org for info on this campaign and how you can help.

What uniforms are union-made?

There are many companies that produce uniforms in union shops in the United States and Canada. Click here for a list of union-made uniform manufacturers.

Where are union-made uniforms sold?

Unite Here is working with other unions to identify the uniform stores and vendors that have made the decision to sell only union-made uniforms.

Firefighters

The International Association of Firefighters has teamed up with Unite Here to fight for union-made uniforms, because every firefighter deserves the best uniform made under safe conditions by union workers.

The IAFF developed with Unite Here this “Union Fire Gear” label that will appear in union-made firefighter uniforms, to make it easier to identify the union product.

By weighing in on Fire Dept. uniform specifications and contracts, IAFF locals can make sure to get high quality union-made uniforms. Click here for a list of union manufacturers for firefighter gear.

Postal Employees

The National Association of Letter Carriers and the American Postal Workers Union are working with Unite Here to make sure that every USPS employee knows where to buy a union-made uniform. Because postal union members have a choice of what uniform to buy and where to buy it.

To support union jobs, USPS employees should buy union-made uniform brands/manufacturers from Union Products Dealers. Don’t buy the non-union brands, and don’t buy from the dealers that are undercutting union products by selling mostly non-union uniforms. Click the links at the right to see the Do Buy and Boycott lists, or click here to download and print the full Do Buy & Boycott list (MS Word version). Transit Workers

The Amalgamated Transit Union has teamed up with Unite Here to make sure that every bus and metro driver is able to wear a union-made uniform.

ATU members whose employer purchases their uniforms can demand that the employer buy from union suppliers.

ATU members who receive allowances or vouchers to buy their uniforms can find out which of their authorized uniform stores are Union Products Dealers (stores that have decided to sell only union-made transit uniforms), and then shop only at those stores. Click here for a list of union manufacturers for transit uniforms.
