Concessions

Jose Garcia
Jose Garcia, Los Angeles International Airport: "With the Union we have job security. The company cannot fire us whenever they want. We have insurance that protects us and our families from head to toe. And we have decent wages."

Airport Concessions workers at airports across the United States and Canada are joining UNITE HERE to improve our lives, the lives of our families, and the health of our communities.  UNITE HERE is a labor union representing more than 450,000 members throughout North America in service sector industries, such as food service, hotels, laundries and apparel manufacturing.

We work for HMSHost, Delaware North Travel & Hospitality Services (formerly CA One), and many other large national and even international companies.  But we are not thinking only of ourselves.  Other men and women who work for our companies do not yet enjoy the benefits of having a union. And airport concessions workers at non-union companies are fighting right now for a voice at work.

We are united for better conditions for all airport concessions workers – the more of us who are organized, the more secure our jobs, wages and benefits will be.  Our industry is growing and we must grow with it! As we grow, we will lead the way to better jobs, stronger communities, and better service for all airport customers.

We number in the thousands.  Together, we can get the attention of our elected leaders to pass legislation for safe and healthy working conditions and other issues that affect us day to day.  That’s why we contribute to the UNITE HERE political action fund, “To Insure Progress” (TIP).  To learn how to sign up for UNITE HERE TIP, please see your Shop Steward.

We are building the strength we need to earn

  • a family-supporting wage and regular raises,
  • affordable health insurance,
  • a safe workplace,
  • freedom from discrimination,
  • a secure retirement

and most importantly— dignity and respect at work.
